Ha ha! Fandom has been freaking out and flipping a shit! I love it! Twilight is my most entertaining and wank-iest fandom of all!

I don't even LIKE Edward and I'm a little excited, just because I adore Robert Pattinson. I even want a Rob-as-Edward icon. Fandom needs to get on that! STAT!

I don't much care for Edward either, and I wouldn't call myself a Twilight fan, but OH, I am SO going to see this movie. By myself, if I have to!

*needs an R.Pattz icon*

Okay, I am so very, very amused by this. Of all the people to choose - someone who already has rabid fangirls from the other insane teen book fandom!!

That said, he's not a bad choice - rather similar facially to Henry Cavill. I still think they're idiots not to make Twilight into a TV series rather than a movie, though.

Let the count down to RP/KS graphics appearing absolutely freaking everywhere... begin.

WOW, YOU'RE RIGHT. I can totally see it as a TV show!

I'm amused too. Even more amusing is when I said to my mother, "Guess who was just cast as the lead in Twilight?" and she said, "DAVID TENNANT?!" "Um... close?"

Well, it's a lot stronger on premise than on plot, which tends to work better on TV than in a movie. Then again, if it were on TV would the Roswell rip-off elements be too obvious?

Your mom's comment = win :) Edward Cullen, the googly-eyed godlike thirtysomething teen vampire!

Most def. And as far as rip-off elements go... well, the fans don't seem to mind?

Sidenote: if I had to choose a godlike immortal that was either a teenage Adonis or one who was nearing forty and clearly on speed, I'd take the latter every time. ;)

Twilight is a popular book series about a teen/vampire romance, and now it's being made into a movie. Soon you'll know aaaall about it whether you want to or not, I'm sure. ;)

I love that you reply with your wiki icon.

I would have looked it up on wiki, but I wanted the answer from a fan of the show.

I'm not really a fan, but I have skimmed the books--mainly because everyone on LJ was talking about it!

Did you hear that? I think 10 000 fangirls just exploded.

Myself included (just retrieving my right foot now).

Jaysus, these media types are savvy.

:( It was fun while it lasted, at least.

I bet Gaspard has no idea we've been talking about him this whole time, the oblivious, pretty thing.

I think you misread my remarks (and rightly so, because I didn't make myself clear). I'm very pleased that Robert Pattinson is Edward! I think Gaspard is prettier than Robert, but to me it's important that he can get the voice right, and I'm not convinced that he could have pulled off an American accent (his trans-European accent in Hannibal was quite awful). I know Robert's English, but so many English actors feature in American productions nowadays, I think he'll pull it off nicely.

I always wonder that too. Does Gaspard know that all these people girls were rooting for him for a thing he wasn't aware of wanting? Spooky!

I realized that about two seconds after I hit "submit," and then I thought, "Hmmm... to edit or not to edit? Ooh, something shiny!"

Anyway, disregard plz.

:D I definitely agree with you about the voice. Rob has a real sultry quality to his. I mean, that "It's not a bad place for a bath" line in Goblet of Fire still gives me... ideas.
