I am very, very excited about this development. Daily Kos, the largest political weblog on the internet (outstripping all conservative blogs combined!) has its first "official" spinoff community, and contrary to probably everyone's expectations it combines two of my greatest passions: politics and religion.

This is apropos of nothing, but what is that lovely church in your icon? Anything local?

'fraid not. It's the Memorial Chapel at Glasgow University, where I spent 7 years singing every Sunday morning of term. I keep toying with switching it to an image of my current Church, but I've struggled to get a decent picture of the altar there. Although I have some good ones of outside, it doesn't really convey the sort of focus I'm normally going for with this icon.
