Street Prophets.

I am very, very excited about this development. Daily Kos, the largest political weblog on the internet (outstripping all conservative blogs combined!) has its first "official" spinoff community, and contrary to probably everyone's expectations it combines two of my greatest passions: politics and religion.
Street Prophets is a space for the religious left to get talking and, perhaps, to get organised. For too long the religious right has had a stranglehold on political/religious discourse in the US. It's starting to change, and moves like this will hopefully accellerate the trend.
It's pretty quiet right now - you can't post or comment for 8 hours after registering (I keep hitting refresh to see if I'm up to that point or not, but so far no joy), and in a week or two that'll change to 24 hours for commenting and 1 week to make posts to the site, but if you have an interest in the subject I'd urge you to keep your eyes on it. I really hope that it's both successful politically, and a space for those of us on the left who hold firm religious convictions to be able to talk and discuss without the often inevitable cry of "all Christians are evil"!
A lot of people have good reason to hold that point of view, but that doesn't mean it's fair. The only way minds will be changed is through actions. Time to get started.

[edit]: And here's the syndicated feed for those who're interested.
