Thinking about Dan's comment, I have found myself in this situation that I find myself in probably 2 to 3 times a year where I feel like the music I'm listening to has gone stale and I want something new to liven things up

Someone already mentioned it, but I'm really liking Beirut.
Spoon has also been getting a lot of mileage for me as of late - "Gimmie Fiction" and "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" in particular. Both CDs are catchy and have interesting lyrics if that's what you're looking for.
I've also been on something of a Daft Punk kick lately, but crazy French electronic stuff may not be what you're looking for, hehe.
while i can't promise cool guitars, Streetlight Manifesto has interesting lyrics, that is if your into Ska (its a bit more punky than lets say the Supertones or Reel Big Fish, etc). "everything Goes Numb" is a good album as is "Keasby Nights" which is areworking of the Catch 22 album of the same name (the lead singer and a few others are from Catch 22).
Other suggestions with guitars: Bloc Party Boston (i started listening to them because of Carolla and find myself listening to them fairly often) Dungen The Allman Brothers
Suggestions that vary upon your musical taste (read: not really known for lyrics or reliance on guitars so I am unsure of how well you'd take to them, but i have (or had) been listening to over the last year or so: Shiny Toy Guns (not the disco song though) The Editors Mew Brand New Depeche Mode (late 80's to mid-90's) The Faint The Planet Smashers Arcade Fire (you probably already listened to them so i listed them here) New Pornographers (same as above)
