Weirdness, Workout & Diet Stuff, More (Weather) Weirdness

When I just tried to open www.livejournal.com a few moments ago, I got nothing but someone's icon with a really ugly female Sim and the text, "This is my happy face, bitch." I have no idea what that was about. When I hit refresh, LJ came up ( Read more... )

Seems to be happening to a lot of people. There's a discussion of it at Fandom Lounge on Journalfen here. Everything seems to be back to normal for me now.

We're had weird weather in NZ too, it's winter here, but generally only very high areas get snow (Dessert Road, ironically, and the mountains) but we've been getting it in the suburbs around Wellington (port town, hello!) and reports of it in Paekakariki, which is a sea level town about thirty minutes North of Wellington.

That is a lot of snow, especially if you don't usually get any. It's all because of global warming, I think. Did you get a snow day?

Naw, it was only brief flurries in the city and not enough to stop anyone in Wellington do anything. It's freaking cold though!

Dumb climate change. *kicks climate change*

*kicks the climate change with you* I like this version of August better, but I bet we're freezing when it's winter here this year.

I didn't get any strange icons, but LJ logged me off on Sunday, and the way I found out about it is when I got on my friends page and got the page that asked me to prove I was over 14. Really annoying, especially since I had to reset my password because it had been so long since I'd logged in, I had forgotten it.

Congratulations on the smaller pants!

We've had a really cool, wet summer here as well.

Weird! I wonder why it logged you out? I've had Firefox log me out of everything, but not just one site.

Thank you!

I think the weather is just weird all over, thanks to global warming.

glad you are getting some cooler weather after 107! and four sizes that is awesome you are doing so great! i checked out what you said about protein- you were right.

i'm impressed that you got on the stairmaster. i'd rather be hogtied. although it's something i should do. have been on the treadmill with an incline. resembles hiking and it's working gotta get in those 10,000 steps a day (sigh)

It is crazy cool! Can you ever remember it being in the 70s in August in Dallas?! And raining!

It is really hard to get that much protein in, especially since you're lactose intolerant. I suggest lots of protein shakes (made with something other than milk), turkey, chicken and fish. I struggle to get to 150 g. a day, but if I work at it I can get there, and it is making a huge difference. At least I am almost never hungry! LOL

The stairmaster damn near killed me. It gets my heartrate over 160, which is kind of dangerous, so I don't know if can do more than 5 minutes for now. I'd stick with the walking for a while, until you're more conditioned (though you're starting out in better shape than I did). Have you tried the elliptical? I love it! I can easily get my heart rate up to around 138 - 143 and keep it there with no joint pain at all. I feel like I am running on it, again without the joint pain. It's my favorite part of working out now.

i am doing protein shakes 2x a day which is 90 gms of protein - without that i would be sunk. doing the golden door plan (sort of) a mix of certain key foods, turkey, salmon, blueberries, soy, tea, spinach, oranges, broccoli, beans, green leafy salad, tomatoes, a few others, and near-substitutes for these (other citrus for oranges, other vegetables for broccoli) some foods they consider virtually magic: salmon, spinach, blueberries, salad with tomatoes the main ones. the idea being to eat these in combination and they work synergistically. another book i have says eggs are the ideal protein the body recognizes as most efficient so the best substitute for anything else. when i get sick of turkey i'll do eggs ( ... )

I have heard that about eggs. Whey is supposed to be easier to digest, but eggs have some fantastic combination of nutrients. I just hate eggs so much that I won't eat them unless they are buried under a bunch of really bad for me stuff. I'd rather eat turkey slices or tuna for breakfast than eggs!

I have one of those misters -- just haven't gotten around to using it, which is silly. But I don't mind having some fat in my diet, especially if it's good fat, as long as I stay in my calorie range. The guacamole idea sounds fantastic.

It sounds like a great plan, overall. And go you! 18 pounds is a lot!
