I have been kind of ill for the past week with some sort of stomach weirdness. Basically, any time I eat I get violently ill soon after. I suppose it could be IBS but I’m not really stressed, which was the source of previous IBS. This happened to coincide with my taking some time off from my diet, but it doesn’t really matter, because no matter ( Read more... )

(96, I think) When there were three extra cable channels you could subscribe to during the Olympics that showed the qualifying rounds for dressage and rhythmic gymnastics?

It was '92, in Barcelona. The NBC Triplecast, one of the biggest disasters in cable history! One week in they offering insane discounts and it was practically free by the end!

I love the Olympics, so you can't write enough about as far as I'm concerned.

Ah, yes! '92! '96 was Atlanta, I think. I remember the trucks at the opening ceremony. I bought the Triplecast weeks before the Olympics started and of course paid full price. If only they'd had more Olympics-freak customers like myself. I even got some kind of fancy guidebook for it that I probably still have somewhere. They were kind of ahead of their time because they're basically offering the same thing over the Internet this time around, except it's supported by Internet ads rather than cable subscriptions.

I'll try to be good about tagging my Olympics entries so they're easily findable or skippable. And I hope you'll post about it a lot as well. It is two weeks (plus 6 weeks of trials) of Yay! and Joy! to me. I need to make an icon ...

Yay Olympics!

I did see parts of Sat. night and all of Sunday, I'm really hoping Chelsea gets on the team. She's got such a great story (and such a rich past) that I can't see how she wouldn't make the team. I think the Chinese girl won't make the team--as much as they need someone on uneven bars, I don't think she is consistent enough. An alternate, maybe?

As for Design Star, I liked the look of the black room, though I'm not bold enough to do that to my own room. I still think it's obvious that Tracee is still there and no one even wants to talk to her while D. Paul got the boot.

Haven't watched NFNS yet, but I'm glad that Nipa is gone. Nipa is the epitome of what is wrong with the network: looking for personality, with cooking skills of secondary importance.

Chellsie was my favorite! I wanted her to get a guaranteed spot over the top two girls. She's in third and it sounded like she's been really consistent in the last two competitions so I feel fairly certain she'll make it. Plus it sounded like they badly need someone good on uneven bars and she was one of the best there. I am thinking good thoughts for her and also don't see how she wouldn't make it. I agree the Chinese girl (Ivana Hong) probably ruined her chances, especially on Sunday though she was not good on Saturday either. Then again, she came in fifth in the competition. and she might be incredible in camp. So yeah, maybe an alternate, but there are so many that were doing well. My guess for the team is: Shawn Miller, Nastia Liukin, Chellsie Memmel, Alicia Scaramonde (I guess - she didn't do well over all but was 2nd in vault) and Jana Bieger maybe Samantha Peszek. LOL I am way too into this, but I can't help it ( ... )

Yeah, from last night, the big shock would be if she didn't make it. She pretty much earned her spot in the eyes of the commentators (and Bela Keroli, whose vote I'm sure won't go unvoiced at the camp ( ... )
