I love the Shakespeare quote meme. The same site also has a Fantasy News Generator that is tl;dr but very funny. Plus:

I died in the Dungeon of Mlleelizabeth

I was killed in a damp catacomb by the wrath of Claudiair, whilst carrying...

the Sword of Ekwy, the Shield of Maddiec24, the Crown of Tunxeh, the Axe of Sci-fi, the Crown of Weirdtales, ( Read more... )

sims 2, ya books, rct, games, memes, wow

On the Sims2 Questions

1. Yes, the expansion packs have to be installed in order, so if you buy a newer one and then get an older one you have to uninstall the new one install the old one and then re-install the new one.

2. I only have University and Nightlife, but I definitely consider them both essential.

3. Yes. Control + shift + c gets you the edit box. kaching gives you 1000 simoleons and motherlode gives you 50,000 simoleons, but you can't string them together with semicolons like you could in The Sims.

Thank you! That is very helpful. I thought University and Nightlife were the first two expansions (in that order) but I wasn't sure I was remembering correctly. You don't happen to know the order the rest of them came out, do you?

And thank you especially for the money cheat. I tend to play more as a designer than trying to actually "win" the game, so the money cheat is very handy for me.

They were, in order:
University
Nightlife
Open for Busines -- Which is one of two that I really really want
Pets
Seasons -- The other one I really want because it adds new career tracks
Bon Voyage

Thank you again! Looks like I need to order three of them before installing Bon Voyage, then. Or possibly skip Pets and just order OfB and Seasons. New career tracks are always a good thing. I thought the Pets were kind of hard to manage and made the game more challenging in a not-good way in Sims 1. They are cute, but caring for them and training them takes away so much from getting the Sims' needs met that I'm not sure its worth the cuteness. Unless in Sims 2 they significantly add to the sims happiness?

WoW IS a social game, but if you find the right people it's easier to be social than you think.

As for its addictiveness...yeah, it can totally suck you in if you aren't careful. Depends on how much you like that kind of gameplay.

Hmmm, it might be possible for me to try it if a find a group (guild?) of more casual players that I already know. I think there is an FW guild, but I'm not sure. And some other people on my flist that play? I may wait on it, though.

1/2. You don't happen to know the order of the expansion packs do you? I'm trying to figure it out from the (much less than helpful) EA site, and if they are listing them in the reverse of the order they were released, it went: University - Nightlife - Open for Business - Pets - Seasons - Bon Voyage, which means there are 3 packs I need to buy before installing Bon Voyage. Also, the "stuff" packs are listed in a separate column, so I assume they are just objects and don't affect gameplay. Do they also have to be installed in order? The specs on the boxes don't say they have to be installed in conjunction with certain expansions (which was definitely true of a lot of Sims 1 objects), but I would think they'd have to be. And it's starting to look like I could easily spend $350 - $400 on Sims games before I'm done. Yikes! Also, thanks for the info on Castaway. Glad I passed on it now!

3. Yay! I play mostly to build fantasy houses and families, so the money cheat has always been really helpful to me.

You don't happen to know of ( ... )

Thank you so much for all the help! I think it would be best to just assume that the stuff packs do have to be installed in order. Less chance of bugs that way. I bought the basic game as part of the deluxe pack, and it comes with Nightlife, not University, which is confusing. And it is all on one disk, so I think I have to install Sims 2 + Nightlife, then University, which is backwards from what it should be.

Also thanks for the links. Mod the Sims 2 has *exactly* the skin I was looking for (it's not perfect, but it is pretty darned good). And TSR has some other good stuff. I'll probably end up subscribing at some point, but I think I have enough toys now to keep me happy for a little while. heh ... Maybe.

Yes, I am that much of a control freak, so I will go looking for that cheat. The thought of certain Sims dying would be heart-wrentching, to say the least.

Wow! That is excellent! Too bad about the tainted potion. You should have had Snape with you.

The edit button is awesomeness!

I suspect that it was Snape who tainted the potion in the first place :P

I'm on Mac and we're always a year or so behind in game releases but I can tell you that the order for us was: Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets and Seasons, which I assume follows the PC release schedule. Personally I could take or leave University, I found it fun briefly but it takes a long time to get a Sim through college and is very repetitive, but obviously other people's mileage varies on that. I just got Seasons and am enjoying that a lot, they've added some new career tracks, and I enjoy watching the Sims run around in the rain and bundle themselves up for snow. They have a little temperature gauge now, and can get overheated, or too cold. There's also something new where you can turn them into plant people, but I haven't messed around with that yet.

Thank you! Yep, it does look like the installation order is the same. I already have University, so I might as well play it. What I really can't figure out is how University was the first Expansion pack, but they bundled the original and Nightlife together in the deluxe edition. I am probably going to try installing them in the wrong order before playing and then uninstalling and correcting it before I try to build anything. I think. Do you have any Mac stuff packs and do they have to be installed in the same order?

The new career tracks and especially the weather sound great, so I've definitely got to get Seasons. And plant people?! Hee!

Love your Sims2 Clex icon!

I have the Family Fun and Glamour Life stuff packs and I assume that I installed them in order, but I got them at the same time and don't remember for sure. It does only say on them that they need the original game to work, nothing else, and being just objects I wouldn't think it would matter how you installed them, but I could always be wrong. I thought those were the only packs out for Mac but just looked online to be sure and apparently they just released Happy Holidays, so that's now in my Amazon shopping cart! Yay!

Love your Sims2 Clex icon!

Aren't they so cute! Clex lives on in a little corner of my neighborhood!

And I just added Family Fun to my cart. Amazon's going to love us this afternoon. *g* Maybe I should try installing all my fun packs before I create any families or houses. That way if I do have them in the wrong order and have to uninstall and reinstall, at least I won't lose anything I've spent a lot of time creating.

Did you create your own Clark and Lex skins? Cause I'm going to have to have at least 1 Clex family myself. Especially since the game has mpreg!
