Thanks for the news about "Moonlight"! I thought it was tanking in the ratings based on the response on LJ. Good to know there're people out there watching. I mean, I get that it's not Angel, but I think that's just fine. Angel was niche TV; Moonlight's probably appealing to a broader audience in spite of the vampire hero.
You're very welcome! I have about 4 or 5 Moonlight fans on my flist and I wanted to share that good news with y'all, because I've seen the same stuff on LJ you have. Fortunately, I also read trade news, so I have been lulzing over LJ/fandom's reaction. I am not an Angel fan, and I have a niggling suspicion that Angel fandom is jealous and kind of making up the idea that it's tanking out of that jealousy. Obviously I have no proof of that, but it just feels that way. I totally agree that Moonlight has broader appeal. The show *kick ass* in the target demographic (which is basically the opposite of fandom in terms of both age and gender). It's also on a bigger network, has a great lead-in with Ghost Whisperer (which I don't like, but admit fits it perfectly as a lead in and is very popular) and probably on the best night possible scheduling-wise. The TV headlines are pretty much all "CBS kicks ass on Friday Night!!! Especially with Moonlight!" Yay!
Cavemen - I watched once, and that was enough. It actually wasn't as bad as I'd expected, but I'd hardly call it good, either. It had none of the charm of the commercials.
K-Ville - I've enjoyed what I've seen but it's opposite Heroes which takes precedence on Mondays for me so I have to try and remember to catch the reruns on Fridays. I wonder if it would have done better in another time slot?
Journeyman - I've actually been enjoying it, though I think Kevin McKidd does take a little getting used to as the lead. I mostly started watching for Reed Diamond, who I've always loved. I hope it sticks around but won't feel too great a loss if it goes either.
I had mixed feelings about Pushing Daisies, myself. I wanted to like it, and I did think it was beautiful on an aesthetic level but it just felt like it was trying much too hard to be clever and quirky.
I haven't managed to catch Moonlight yet, I want to but I keep forgetting when it's on.
I have the same problem with K-Ville. I wanted to watch it but it's just up against too many other things. And if the reruns are on Friday, that's even more of a problem, because that is when Moonlight is on -- Friday at 8:00 p.m. central, after Ghost Whisperer. And it is very much worth watching. There is a lot of great eye candy on it, and it's turning out to be much better than I expected.
I had never heard of Kevin McKidd before reading comments to this post. Just saw him on the show and in previews and he hits very wrong buttons for me. I doubt I could ever get used to him.
I watched Pushing Daisies in fast forward tonight while getting to the Dirty Sexy Money part of my tape. You are exactly right - it's beautiful, but too clever and quirky. It's like an amusement park ride or something. I wouldn't mind it as a two hour movies, but I could never watch that ever week.
I'll post on Friday and remind you about Moonlight.
I plan on watching Rome for Mr. Purefoy so I'll get to see how good he was in that. But his appearance squicks me badly. I have to hope he looks different in it, though his haircut in what I've seen of Journeyman actually looks like it would have worked in ancient Rome...
My brother was an extra in the show for an epsidoe. He tried to watch the pilot, but hated it so much, he turned it off. He will have to keep checking in, just to see if he made it on. But, apparently, it's not worth the effort.
Your brother actually would be worth watching it for - at least for that episode. If you find out when its on will you please post see I can see that one? Im sorry he hated the pilot of a show he was in, though. That sucks!
