This is rather encouraging

Matthew Stover is going to be writing Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor, a novel set shortly after ROTJ. I'm looking forward to Stover's take on the classic characters and I'm hoping this means we'll get more stories set during the classic trilogy that actually focus on the Big Three & Vader, etc. We have to wait a year, but here's hoping ( Read more... )

Ooooh, I *liked* the ROTJ novelisation. This is promising...

... or is it? I hate to get my hopes up after Allegiance. The post-ROTJ setting is... well, there'll be no Vader. Not unless there's ghost!Anakin running around after Luke, and I doubt that'll happen.

But... yeah. Quietly hopeful.

Since this is very shortly after ROTJ, we'll at least get Luke still dealing with what happened to his father.

Quietly hopefully is probably the best tack to take. And we have an entire year to get our hopes up.

Have we heard more about how betaing Nova is coming, she typed hopefully?

That's a good news, gives me something to look forward to while I shovel the 18 inches to 2 feet of snow we're getting in the next 48 hours.

There's only so much hot chocolate can get you through - even when it's laced with creme de menthe.

You know, there hasn't been a SW novel that I've enjoyed. Maybe because the fans don't write them, maybe because they are too technical...I dunno. I have read a lot of Trek books that I've enjoyed, so its not a sci-fi thing. Am just not impressed with the level of writing in SWverse. Have read some awesome fan fic that SHOULD BE in print though...

Well, I've like a few. I enjoyed Dark Nest, and back in the day, I enjoyed the Black Fleet Crisis; but I do agree there are far more misses than hits.

I admit I've drifted away from Star Trek novels; but I do agree many of them are very good - mainly I think because the editors picked some very good writers and gave them more freedom.

I wish SW would do what ST did, and actually have a contest for fanfic and print the best.

I wish they would've used the books as a guide for the movies. Have you read "Federation"? That would have been SO much better than "Gnerations" as a hybrid between TOS and NG.
