"Regular" people hardly ever even realize these things can be an issue. I do have pet peeves: when I expressly ask for a table then some moron takes me to a booth that I can not possibly fit in, people that think that the only reason I have a handicap placard is because I'm too lazy(and fat) to walk, and people who don't need mart carts taking them in grocery and discount stores.

I'm not a fat activist either I suppose because I've been bullied all my life for being the fat girl but I can get awfully pissed sometimes.

I procrastinated getting the handicapped placard about as long as I procrastinated getting on disability, precisely because I didn't want to do either until I exhausted my other options. Some may cheat the system, but when I asked for help (outside my family) that help was desperately needed.

The person who wrote the blog post I was responding to is the type of individual who can shut down bullies on the spot. That sort of personality lends itself to activism more than my introverted nature does. I prefer to point things out in a more quiet manner.
