The future of this LiveJournal account

Mar 27, 2013 21:46

I don't even know if I have anyone who watches this LiveJournal account anymore, but if you do, you can clearly see that I haven't been keeping it up. For a while I had it set to crosspost from my main blog (www.demimonde.com) but for some reason, due to some bizarre CDN setting that I probably screwed up while in a drunken fog, the images either ( Read more... )

I always found LJ entries useful for to-do lists and the like. Anyway, how are you?

I am oversaturated with the social media. But I am seriously thinking that I could make this a fun secret club for myself. I would want to change my name, and my old username is no longer available, sadly.

How about you? Still livin' the good life?

You still have the same userpic, even! You haven't aged a day! :-P

There's a few of us still here. I crosspost from my website, but most of my readers are still here. (which only tells you about how few people read my website, but, hey.) :-)

I believe this is still Gail Carriger's primary blog platform, so that's got to count for something!

Nick Mamatas blogs here too. So, yeah, a few of the cool kids are still around. :-)

Still here, still reading, even post every so often (though nowadays I'm twinned here and on Dreamwidth). As with GEnie before it, I expect to be here till they turn out the lights.

D'oh, I totally forgot about my Dreamwidth account too! Oh brother. I have no idea what I'll do with that one either. But at least there I don't have the sunk cost like I do here. (And brother, I will do anything to avoid losing a sunk cost.) :-)

OK, I can't remember my LJ password right now (ruralwriter here), but I still read LiveJournal...and use it as an RSS reader, largely, more so now that Google Reader is going away.

Given that I also use a pseudonym here, I see the appeal of a hideout!

That's an interesting datapoint. Maybe I should continue to port my "major" posts from my blog over here (not the tiny little ones, but sometimes I do longer, more thoughtful ones) and then if I also want to use it as a secret hideout too. But having refreshed my memory on the rules, I can't change my name without losing rights to the old one, and I'd prefer not to lose rights to "mkhobson."

The interesting thing is that my old username (bricoleur) is still associated with this journal. If you type in "bricoleur.livejournal.com" (my old direct address) it brings you here.

I still look at it. I can't keep up with everyone's standalone pages, though increasingly I see notice of postings on FB, rather than here...

Hm, interesting. Part of revisiting my LiveJournal, etc. has to do with wanting to get *away* from Facebook (which has become so noisy and cluttered that it's getting really hard to use.) LJ is so much simpler and quieter. I've also been using G+ a lot more lately.

For that matter, I also have a Dreamwidth mirror that I should figure out what I want to do with ... sheesh!
