It's been an interesting day -- the older son has the flu, so he's definitely not coming near me and I couldn't get any appointments that med the wife's free time, but I left one on for 3:30pm on Thursday. I finally had them put me in line to talk to an advise nurse. I asked if Kaiser still had the car service for people who can't drive/walk and she said no (didn't surprise me -- they're trying to keep things inexpensive for most patients), so I asked if she had suggestions for how I could get to where I could get in my van and drive myself. She suggested a different kind of brace -- one that was easier to put on and had an open area on the kneecap, and I just spent about an hour looking -- the best I got was two very similar (each from different shop), and both will be shipped and here on Wednesday, so I'll get to try those for probably less than a day. I spent an amazing time trying to find a place locally that would deliver, and I couldn't find anything. She also said I should use cold compresses for 10 minutes three times a

Well, and the brace that arrived today is too stiff for me to move, not to mention that I can barely move my arthritic fingers now. I'm going to try to get into the van tomorrow -- I can always call 911.

Thank you for making sure that I knew. I am so sorry for your loss, and so sad for all of us who knew her. I did talk with Marilee at least briefly every Minicon that she was able to attend, but most of our interaction was online, and mostly about her cats. She was one of the strongest and kindest people I've known, and I only wish I'd said so explicitly.
