Paying Ahead of Time

I got a call today from the hospital where the surgery will be on Monday, wanting my copay from a credit or debit card today. Interesting way to do it, but they did say I get it back if the surgery is cancelled.

Thanks! It's pretty common surgery for women my age, we're just doing it in the hospital because I've had problems with anesthesia before.

It's not uncommon for hospitals to do that - asking for payment ahead of time - these days.
And I'll keep you in my thoughts on Monday.

I think the last time I was admitted for non-emergency surgery was about seven to eight years ago. I stayed overnight and only paid a $10 copay. But I was two levels higher in specialists (he didn't work for Kaiser) and it was a different hospital, so maybe it was just a different deal. Thanks for your thoughts!
