I am new and absolutely adore MJ. He was simply gorgeous and I want to remember as the beautiful person he was, not as the 'freak' the media claimed he was. In recent years, I had dismissed all things Michael Jackson. The attention from the media was just too chaotic and I fell back to the sidelines and looked away. Now, in his death, I feel as if

i too am a lifelong mj fan. i was quite fanatical about my love for michael as a kid and teenager, but, though i still loved him as i got older, i grew less fanatical. in a way, i also feel like i abandoned him, though i always felt he was innocent of any wrongdoing and still loved him completely.

it saddens me also that this bright and brilliant star has left us forever. it's not like i thought i'd ever get to speak to him or to know him, but there was always that hope. now it's been extinguished forever. :(

I know what you mean. I did the same (.__.) I always believed in him and hoped that one day he'd return with new music but I kinda just left him be for the most part. I didn't talk about him or anything but I would once in a long while watch a video or sing his songs. I thought I'd start paying attention when he wants us to but just when that time was finally coming he passed away (wow, it stills hurts to even write that) (;__;) I just regret not trying to thank him in some way for the wonderful, magical music he created that brings back such wonderful memories of my childhood. Music that still to this day makes me smile and brings such happiness to my very soul♥

Thank you for your post. I too had turned away from anything Michael for the past few years. You described exactly how I feel. It is a strange kind of guilt. I was really hopeful when he announced the new tour, and now he's gone...
