I sure hope I don't have to wait 4 1/2 more months to see how your story ends. :)
I didn't know the Note 7's were that flammable. Reports online say the batteries overheat. I believe it. My Galaxy Light overheats every now and then when the screen gets stuck "on", and I have to remove the battery to reset it. They're like self-cooking pop tarts.
Frankly, I hope you have to wait much, much longer than 4½ months to find out how my story ends. But it won't take me that long to get through the harrowing tale of how I almost (not really, but sort of really) died. 3 more weeks, tops ;)
I guess you could say the batteries overheat. I mean, spontaneously combusting is technically a form of overheating, right?
You booked two return flights?! That is amazing. It's even more amazing that your family had no idea this ever happened, because you were able to book the very next flight during the Thanksgiving rush. Usually every seat is sold at Thanksgiving and you were incredibly lucky.
TSA-pre is awesome, but there's a catch. Often there's only one TSA-pre line in each terminal and you have to find it. Once you do, you're golden.

I make a public post at least once a year. It's more of a warning than a suggestion.
