Never once seen an LJ icon post focused on Westerns, so that's a pretty unique claim. Kudos! Loving the crop and texture use in "pattern" cuz the texture really suits his shirt! The blue sky in "color" is so bright and inviting, too!
I live for weirdness in icons, so nothing is ever to "out there" for me. I commend anyone who works on material from older films and TV shows cuz the cap quality is often not HQ which is a huge challenge!
*hugs* I MADE THESE JUST FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU. EMBRACE THE WEIRD.
Luckily, I chose John Ford Westerns this round, so most of his movies have been preserved and upgraded to Blue-Ray. I've worked with some terrible caps before, like with The Sentinel tv show, that only has it's first season on DVD or early season Power Rangers caps.
Wow, interesting choice of subject! I've never seen these movies, but still very cool that you choose something so different. My favourite is probably 11, because the colors of that one really 'pop' and it has such a great composition.
You should watch anything directed by John Ford. I'm assuming you're a graphics maker of some sort, so visual person y? John Ford managed to elevate the Western genre from 'B movie' to real, award winning cinema. He did this by his amazing use of camera work (and filming outdoors, on location). Some of his shots are *iconic* cinema, that get reference even today. [/soapbox]
Anyway, thank you so much. Glad you like them :)
EDIT: Stagecoach is up on Hulu. I recommend watching it on full screen.

I was trying to challenge myself on subject! wasn't sure if it was a little to 'out there' for people to appreciate.
