Where did it go? I thought I had it! Now it's all gone.

deflower_draco's deadline is 13 days away and I've not even written a THING for my fic! I think what's worst about me not having started on my fic yet, is announcing that fact on LJ where BOTH mods for the community are on my f-list. *shifty eyes* *nervous giggle* *sidles away ( Read more... )

I hate to say this, but I'm not surprised about the issue of plagarism. It it s a *huge* issue at the level of college coursework, and college students who do it just don't seem to understand what they are doing wrong (willfully??), or why they shouldn't be doing it, or that doing it can lead them to expulsion. The idea that is is WRONG and illegal doesn't seem to bother them one iota. In fact, I have some friends who have students, who after they have given them a first warning, the same student continues to blithely plagarise (and some of the idiots choose to plagarise from their profs' works - as if you don't recognize your own damn writing when grading someone's paper!). And the internet makes it too easy. And it's probably helped by the fact that FF is free to read, and we always have the disclaimers around the writing that we don't own certain characters. And basically...people are lazy and they suck.

Haha! I like things in 3s, too.

I can't believe how much HP fandom is dying. I was all excited when I got back into it almost a year ago. But my enthusiasm has waned, as I've had a hard time finding people who share my tastes and interests, as far as pairing, genres, and kinks are concerned. Most of my fic came from squeeing with other fans, bouncing ideas, writing cookies, etc. Now I often feel like I'm doing this solely for own amusement. If anything discourages me, it's not the threat of plagiarism as much as the lack of feedback. If I were to move to self-publishing erotica, it would be for that reason. HP fandom just isn't the interactive place it once was. It's too small and too decentralized - but I suppose that was bound to happen once the books and movies stopped coming out.
