I don’t know why, but it’s been a long week. But the proposal for the fifth Walker Papers is turned in, and I’ve given up on NNWM. I’m going to write the Morrigan short story next week, and if I get done with that before the end of the week I’ll go back to NNWM and do as much as I can, but copy edits for PRETENDER’S CROWN are due in, and Dublin ( Read more... )

I actually like them small and unobtrusive, otherwise I find them distracting.

Smallish are preferable unless they are used sparingly. Also, weekends off are good :)

My dear old thing! (That's a catchphrase of cricket commentator Henry Blofeld, who is a dear old thing himself! But I suspect you're not into cricket. Yet. Though the Ireland team ain't bad. Better at the moment than England, who are losing left, right and centre, chiz.)

Anyway, speaking as someone whose nano novel has turned into bubbles and floated away, bursting into pretty but useless colours (NO chemistry between the MCs, NO proper characterisation, NO coherent worldbuilding - gah! It needs more Cogitation. Gah! again.) I can only say how much I admire you for even _thinking_ about Nano when you have so much else on your plate.

I also want to say that I'm reading 'The Queen's Bastard' and I love Belinda so much. I like the echoes of Tudor-ish times, too; but the best thing about the book is Belinda herself. She seems able to cope with everything that's thrown her way. Thank you!
