Ansible has a good article here about an author whose books I devoured in the 70s. His 'Dumarest' saga is fast and thrilling, even now! Bits of the film 'Avatar' seemed like homages (no, no, not rip-offs!) of some of his ideas.

It has been a little strange, when the Last Night of the Proms coincides with the anniversary of 9/11.

For me, the Last Night always marks the end of summer (what we've had of it this year, at least.) Now the countdown to Christmas begins!! Scary, huh?
