any dream will do

So I actually got caught by a reality show. They're doing a series called Any Dream Will Do over here. It's presided over by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and its purpose is to cast a leading man for Joseph & the Technicolor Dreamcoat on the West End. (Last year they did "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria" and cast Maria for The Sound of Music. ( Read more... )

they've done one of those to cast the leads in "grease" over here. it was called, of course, "you're the one that i want".

the only reality show i watch here is "the amazing race", which is just people travelling around in a big race and doing stuff, so there's not nearly the level of backstabbing and "oooh, who are we going to conspire against and vote off" as, say, survivor or big brother.

the new reality show this summer in the US is one for aspiring movie makers. it might be interesting. i haven't decided yet if i want to watch it.

also, that's a cute pic of you.

There's a competitive show going on here with "Grease", too, and it's doing incredibly badly. I watched a few minutes and it was awful. I hope the US version was better. :)

Yeah, the backstabbing and conniving and all of that doesn't appeal to me. This is, I suppose, a talent show, but it's also an audition, and that /does/ appeal to me.

The movie makers might be cool!

And thank you. I liked it. *beam*

Ha! I have managed to avoid the addiction but have flirted with the show in its after Who slot. I cannot bear the results shows though so am usually at a loss to know who is in and who is out. I am glad Lee is still there. He did a rendition of 'Paint it Black' that I thought was incredible - although the fact that he keeps onions in his bedroom is just plain weird!!! . So long as Lewis doesn't get it I can cope with the result I think. Is Keith the guy who looks like he has escaped from an episode of Beauty and the Geek?

Yeah, Lee's 'Paint It Black' was pretty incredible. And the onions in the bedroom would not seem nearly so weird if he had explained that doing so at least reputedly helps keep nasal and throat passages clear. I've heard of singers doing that before, but I bet that either he didn't want to give away his secret trick to the other boys or he thought explaining was even weirder than not having a reason to keep onions in his bedroom. :)

I've never seen Beauty and the Geek, but offhand, I'd say yes, that's Keith. :) If you watched more than Lee in the 'Paint It Black' night, Keith was the one who sang 'Brown-Eyed Girl'.

So ALW is actually going with the winner for the stage production? That's kinda cool.

Yup! And he doesn't get to rescue anybody next week, so it's all up to the audience.
