A quick galumph through the S2 styles turns up "Expressive", which has two columns and is supposed to be CSS-controlled....

It's the supposed to be that I'm having trouble with. My ability to cope with their CSS classes seems to be extremely limited.

Fwiw, I read thru Mizkit.com and I LOVE your look and quotes in the top left corner.

Sorry you're frustrated,

Yeah. If I can't get something to work with the quotes I'll probably end up using the same old thing, because at least it works, even if I"m not happy with it. :P But I like the quotes.

I've never been able to figure out the css stuff either, and I design websites when I'm not writing. I have discovered that Flexible Squares offers a lot of nice features, and you can have a pretty banner with it. I'm pretty good at building graphics and stuff. Let me know if I can help you out. My two LJs use Flecible squares with banners I made myself on top - goth_huntress and jenn_moffatt.

Yeah, I think Flexible Squares is the nicest of the ones they've got. What really insanely frustrates me is the inability to genuinely customize the sidebar with HTML or images or whatever. Argh. Or 3 columns with the FS layout, which really is basically /nice/.

I've seen some people do it with images. They do it with layers, but last time someone tried to tell me how I didn't really pay attention. http://community.livejournal.com/s2layers/profile - maybe these guys can help you out?

Good luck! Is puppy OK?

hey, my customized style is FS too. :) So are the ones I designed for Angie.

I used to have a sidebar programmed into the page with HTML but when they changed to S2, I had to get rid of it. The links thing works for me but it took me a while to find at first. I don't understand why it's hidden.

I keep looking at my website and journal and thinking I should redesign them but I haven't had any inspiration on what to do with them. Well, I thought that back when I would have had the time to do something about it.
