After reading the multitudes of posts about Revenge of the Sith (I’m probably one of the last 10 people on LJ who has not seen it, btw), it came to my attention that a horrible cultural tragedy has taken place. There are young people out there who have not seen the original trilogy and yet have seen the prequels. And liked them, apparently.

But whatever you do, do NOT take your kids to see the latest SW. The ending is so TOTALLY NOT APPROPRIATE for children under 12. Seriously.

Your story reminds me of hearing about my sis-in-law screen Fellowship of the Ring for her toddlers, ooh, here's some Hobbits, uh, fast fwd, fast fwd a lot, and more hobbits! and some elves, and uhm, that's it! until you're much older ;) They then made Hobbit holes out of cardboard boxes during rainy Saterdays.

Yeah, some things like that don't transfer well to young kids. Making hobbit holes sounds like fun, though.

It also amazes me how many people haven't seen the originals. I guess it's a generational thing. I saw them all in the theatre as they were released, but I'm old ;-)
BTW...I haven't seen RotS yet either. I likely will, but not until the hype calms down.

Actually, as far as Moms go my kids say I'm pretty cool. I'm open-minded, easy to talk to, and I try to remember being a kid.

When I went to see the first of the new ones, I talked to the bloke who was in front of me in the queue... he was in his mid-twenties, and after some minutes flirting with me... but when I mentioned that I saw the originals in the theatre and at. their. first. release he ended the conversation suspiciously quickly... ;-)))
