Danskos : in need of a new home

Dec 19, 2012 08:51

I tried. I really tried. However, I do not have Dansko-compatible feet. I currently own a pair of distressed brown leather Danskos, size 39. I was assured that after a while my feet would get used to them, and this is not what happened. I took them to the cobbler to try to stretch them out a bit, to no avail ( Read more... )

Just to say, I'm in the same situation vis a vis Danskos. Everyone told me I would love them and they would be the most comfortable shoes ever. Not. At least not for my feet.

Sorry. And sorry I'm not lining up here to buy.

Ditto here. As luck would have it, I bought mine during a special sale so was able to sell them for the same price to a very happy buyer. A friend is convinced that her Danskos exacerbated the car accident she was in, resulting in a shattered ankle. I thought that sounded like an odd thing, but two Dansko-lovers in the room totally supported the allegation. One said that's why she won't wear hers while driving. Seriously, even people I know who love them have major complaints, so I just don't get it.

My feet are too small for your shoes, but I will *highly* recommend Merrell. I'm about to buy my 4th (5th?) pair of the same Merrell clogs. I wear them all day every day 3 seasons of the year unless there's fresh snow that will get into them, and I adore them. And Danskos never felt right to me either, FWIW.

Ditto on both items (I wear a 36). I love all of my Merrells, and much as I prefer buying online, I did have a helpful shoe salesperson (a long-time employee trusted by my mother) explain that Merrells can vary a bit in shape, so you may have to try on 2+ pairs to find ones that fit you. This was definitely true for me -- my first pair of Encore Breeze 2 that I got online did NOT fit, but when I went in to a store a few months later, that pair fit fine!

Anyway, I own the Encore Breeze (second pair; first lasted many years), the Angelic Slip Ons (can be a bit tight in the toes), and some mid-calf boots they don't seem to make anymore. I haven't tried the Luxe line yet, but they are very pretty.

They might be too small for me, but I'm willing to give them a shot. If they fit, I'd happily take you shoe shopping and buy your new ones for you. If not, I'm still willing to be shopping company. I could totally treat you like a client, find you a comfy seat and bring everything to you, make it a real pampering experience.

It's entirely possible that the variations in our foot proportions will mean they fit you fine where they hurt me. You're the first person to have expressed any interest in giving it a shot, and I like your proposal of moral support for the shopping. I don't mind trying on shoes if there are reasonable options to choose from, if you know what I mean :)

I feel your pain. I can never get Danskos that fit right, either. (You should try to eBay them if you can't get any takers; betcha they'd be grabbed up at $70 or even $80.)

And I also love Born, but my new faves are my Alegrias. They have a few different Mary Jane styles -- I have the Paloma, but there's Belle and Dayna and Kaitlyn -- and when I bought my pair, I found that even their other slip-on styles felt all wrong on my feet, whereas the Mary Jane strap keeps my feet from riding forward and getting all squished into the toe box. So that might be a factor for you too. Berks in Harvard Square might still carry these, if you want to shop locally/try them on in person.
