One of the most annoying things about being depressed...is that you can't find energy to DO anything. Sometimes there's not even enough energy to get something to eat (not that lacking energy to eat wouldn't do me some good). It's frustrating...because there's also no energy to do anything to change the depression. Why do human brains get ( Read more... )

Indeed.

I'm feeling very overwhelmededy and my brain's way to deal with it is to shut down and not want to do anything, regardless of the consequences.

I learned recently that one reason why some humans are more susceptible to anxiety and depression is because of fumigation chemicals our grand and great grandparents were exposed to. I guess that this may esplain why I have more of a tendency to get ho-humdy than my brother, since we have different dads.

I know nothing about my great grandparents other than on my mother's side they lived in Georgia on a farm. So...maybe they were exposed to a lot of insecticide sprayed on fields? That seems to be the side that the majority of the mental illness runs on.

I kind of wish there were tried and true monthly injections that could regulate the brain. Although....I suppose skipping a month would be drastically worse than coming off a daily pill.

I'd always been somewhat fascinated by the medicated ways to take care of this. When I was in my deepest depression in 02, where things got REALLY real and dark and horrible, I tried to get medicated, but my doctor refused, saying I had to go through tons of counseling first (not covered by my insurance).

That's crazy that your doctor said that. I've been on and off anti-depressants without much if any counseling since around then. Sadly, I just seem really resistant to most of them :\
