As far as Tig Resker's concerned, this place is heaven. It's got breathtaking mountain scenery, her missing-presumed-dead-and-then-actually-dead girlfriend, and vintage clothing.

She's naturally sort of reserved, but Milliways breeds boredom and boredom, in Tig, breeds sociability. Plus this girl seems pretty nice.
The light is too dim for her to see what's on her hands, from this distance.

What's that ... on her palm? It's too dark, the girl drops her hand before she can form an opinion, but it makes Tig uneasy anyway.
"No," she says honestly, "you can't."
Then, more honestly than that, "Well, probably not, anyway. It's okay. Do you want any pancakes?"

It's not that different from the way she would have reacted to a strange man's stare when she was alive-- but then again, since dying, she has become acutely aware that some people are more than just people.
