Life is good.

Well, life is ... complicated. But good! He's met with the new bossman, Harding, who's slightly less intimidating than DeWitt in some indefinable way. And who seems to have a certain appreciation for genius. And long story short, friends and neighbors, Topher Brink is about to become the new head of R&D at the Los Angeles Dollhouse.

Topher's happy almost to the point of giddy. Beyond kid-in-a-candy-store; this is all the way to kid-in-Wonka's-Chocolate-Factory.

They're finally gonna let him do stuff.

Well, okay, not right now, but that sandwich is waiting for her whenever she decides she's not in danger of being taken back for a treatment.

No, that could be seen as a public service, really.

"I can take care of myself," she repeats.

She doesn't sound happy about it, but she does sound very firm.

Still eyeing him, Echo sits back down and starts in on her sandwich again.

Thing #23 being a Doll does not prepare you for: Ending a conversation gracefully. (Actives in Doll state tend to just wander away when they get distracted.)
