Mia's dinner, the first one she's had in Milliways after her trip to England, is a very quiet one. So quiet that when she listens, she can hear rustling under her table. When she looks, she sees Dobby bandaging his ironed hands. Once he sees Mia, he jumps back startled

Gesicht catches wind of the small commotion from a booth over and, as per his policeman training, steps over to see what's going on.

"Are you all right, ma'am?"

"Oh, I apologize! I am Gesicht. It's nice to meet both of you, despite the circumstances."

[gorgonfondness]

"Trust me, I've made friends under much worse circumstances," Mia says, offering her hand to shake. "And as long as Dobby's here, I'm sure he'll be fine."

"This place is full of kind people," Dobby says again. "Never thought Master Draco would marrys such a nice wife, though."

Mia blushes a little before saying, "A lot of people have told me that."

Gesicht takes it and shakes it, firmly.

"The world is full of kind people, too," he confides to Dobby. "That can be surprising sometimes, can't it?"

Dobby nods, idly tearing one of the paper napkins he's been given.

Once the handshake is over, Mia waves over a waitrat and requests the tea and crackers, leaving a silver piece on the tray as a tip.

"Mistress tips the help?" Dobby asks.

"Of course. I also pay my post owl. I let anyone who works for me know that I appreciate what they do."

Dobby tears up again and looks quite close to jumping up and hugging Mia.

"If you don't mind me asking, Mia...are you a politician yourself?"

She's exhibiting signs of the profession.

"Perceptive, Mister Gesicht," she says with a smile. "Yes, I am. I'm not an elected official, but I can be thrown out just like one if I mess up bad enough. I serve at home as the Guildmaster of Vane."

"Mistress is master?" Dobby asks, confused.

"Well, another term we use is Governess. Simply put, I rule the city-state."

"Thank you," he says politely. "You're much friendlier than many politicians I've met."

[gorgonfondness]

"Thank you," she says, blushing. "I do my best to help whoever comes to Vane. My mother taught me that. She had the position before me and she is one of the kindest people I've ever known. I hope to impart the same ideas to my children, when I have them."

Which will be in about nine months...

"Oh? Are you planning a family? I hope that's not too personal a question."

[gorgonfondness]

"Oh yes, we were going to see about that soon. We're both very excited about the idea."

Draco a bit more anxious excited than Mia at this point, but right now Mia's not aware of her pregnancy. It will be another week or two before morning sickness kicks in.

"That's wonderful! Kids are fun."

"They kicks you," Dobby protests.

"Just until they're born," Mia says.

"Not Master Draco..."

Mia looks irritated at that. Someone's going to have a talk with Someone's Husband.

Gesicht, on the other hand, looks disturbed.

"Children do that?"

"Spoiled ones do if they believe it will get them their way," Mia says with a little huff.

"Is that a precursor to criminal activity in their later years?"

Gesicht has never met a child that acted that way, so he finds the idea alarming.
