Barney... could do with a lot of days out in the field. Especially with Gordon using him as a bodily shield against all his adoring fans. So he's milling around outside the base, looking for something to do.

"There you are, Mr. Calhoun." They've been on an active war footing for too long for Shephard to give up that habit. Until he's officially off the base, anybody who could be considered part of the military hierarchy- insofar as the Resistance ever had a hierarchy- gets called by his or her title. "Been lookin' for you a while now."

"Dunno 'bout you, sir, but I'm goin' stir-crazy just at the moment," says Shephard. "Not that the job don't keep me busy 'n all but shit, I need to get away from some of these folks for a couple days. I'm takin' a couple days leave 'n heading up along the local river to see if they got anything interestin' around here- you got anything you can't put aside?"

(Technically this is probably violating about sixteen different kinds of protocol, but Shephard figures if nobody ever officially put him under the other man's command it's not fraternizing and it doesn't count as being out of line.)
