Adrian Shephard, Half-Life: Opposing Force, Somewhere in the Catskills, future-ish
A lot's happened since the Combine threw themselves at White Forest in force. The details are best left for another time. Suffice it to say that there were a lot of explosions involved and that Odessa Cubbage didn't live to see the end of the war.
Other people survived. Adrian Shephard was one of them. And while there's not a day goes by that he doesn't thank God for that fact, sometimes gratitude alone isn't enough to get you through the work of rebuilding a world. Irritations and annoyances build up mighty fast during what's technically peacetime. Shephard knows the symptoms of going stir-crazy just as well as anyone else, which is why he's made a few arrangements with the rest of his fellow survivors and started pulling together some supplies. Time he got himself back out somewhere that's green for a couple of days. There's mountains out there, nothing like what they had in Preston County, but good enough to do for now. Maybe the local steam connects to a river worth following, or maybe there's something worth hunting in the forest out there- who knows. Only way to find out's to head out there and see.
'Course, going out there by himself probably isn't the best idea. Accidents happen. Might as well go see if he can find someone else who could do with a couple of days in the field.
