From behind one of the walls of the bar comes the sound of large, metal doors closing and opening, one by one.

The sound grows closer, closer -

- and suddenly stops.

"Hey!"

The voice coming from behind the wall sounds very exasperated.

"Stupid giant hunk of metal - "

And Ben's ready to rush over and help him up if he falls, but seeing as how he hasn't fallen, Ben's just gonna sit here and stare.

Max looks at Ben for just a second, then turns on his heel and starts investigating the doors that led him here.

The analyst thinks nothing of the grinding noises coming from the wall until the two very large, apocalypse-proof metal alloy doors are about to make him the bologna in their sandwich.

He makes it out by a hair. No, really - a hair from the back of his head is sticking out from between the doors.

Ever hear a grown man "meep" before?

NOW YOU HAVE.

Ben resists the temptation to applaud. "That was quite an entrance."

"Uh. Thanks, I think," Max says, smoothing down the front of his suit and giving his tie a little adjustment.

"This isn't - "

Beat. Eyedart.

" - the library, is it?"

The words "the library" are little awkwardly elongated. If Ben notices that sort of thing, he might realize that Max is totally lying about where he expected to be.

"Not where you expected?"

She can sympathize.

"... no," Max responds, running a hand over his hair to smooth it down.

"I'm sure I just took a wrong turn somewhere."

A wrong turn in a hallway that only goes in one direction, yep.

Suuuuure he did.

"It happens sometimes."

Okay, for now she's willing to play along. He's kind of cute, in that awkward puppy sort of way she'll never admit to being fond of.

"I've only been here a few times myself. I'm not very good at the whole welcome speech."

"'It' being a new place showing up out of nowhere?"

That's just Weird.

And totally impossible.

Maybe he's dreaming.
