One of my work colleagues is off to Europe on Sunday, flying to Budapest then cruising to Amsterdam, basically doing the cruise I want to do in 2017 only in reverse. At the end of the cruise he's spending time in Paris before flying home. And now I have itchy feet, and I want to be going NOW not in two years' time! Next year is New Zealand again ( Read more... )

I wanted to do that cruise too.
The sunroom kind of made it impossible... unless I won the lottery.

I guess I'll have to put a photo of the boat as a wallpaper on my laptop :-/

On the bright side, you'll have your sunroom forever while the trip is soon over. It's horrible, though, having to choose between two equally desirable things, and then having to be responsible and grown-up about it!

That was pretty much my reasoning.
I used to love to travel (except the part about getting there!), but the cost when doing it solo is prohibitive...

I was all ready to do it when I turned 60, but there was flooding in Central Europe. So last year I thought about it again, and realised that I'd be spending a lot of money for only 8 days.

The sunroom made more sense :-/

Enjoy your trips :-)

You're not wrong. I travel with my sister; we share a room and a hire car and it really cuts down on the expense.

You're not alone! I do wish Noel and Julian would make another series of the tv show.

Your planned trip sounds lovely even if you do have to wait for it. *g*

I would love to do a lot more travelling than I do but most of my time gets eaten up by trips home... not that I'm complaining about that exactly.

Your weekend plans sound lovely as well. ♥

Even though it's still two years off, the planning makes it seem a lot closer.

I can understand you wanting to go home to see your family every year; in your position I'd be doing exactly the same thing.
