Oh shh. Also I am going to hate this tomorrow. Also I'll try and write you romance at some point I promise.
There is nothing that compares to what Joonmyun feels when the hands cover his eyes, familiar, normal boy hands he knows as well as his own, palms hard from years of training, and hears Jongin’s voice whispering in his ear, “Hyung, I did this for you-you deserve it,” as he’s moved down the hall, around the bend, and then Jongin removes his hands, and-well, it’s a sight to behold, is what it is, floor to ceiling streamers and a cake that looks like a-is that dancing Jongin or something, Joonmyun understands nothing-and an overwhelming feeling of joy in the air, from all corners, because it’s Joonmyun’s birthday and they haven’t done anything special for it in years, and Joonmyun never thought Jongin, prickly but somehow lovely Jongin, was capable of such a nice surprise, but clearly he is and it’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for him, and he couldn’t be happier than this (he really loves Jongin sometimes).
Sehun has dealt with cuts, bruises, and scrapes on his arms, legs and face, but none of them have ever ached as bad as the injury he feels on his heart, one that gets a little more severe each time he has to say goodbye to Luhan at the airport.
Kris has probably come up with a million words for them, a word for the feeling he gets during the hour long conversations he has with Chanyeol over the phone, for the laugh he lets out whenever Chanyeol tackles him into a hug when they're reunited, for the butterflies in his stomach whenever they kiss, and for the smile on his face whenever Chanyeol rests his head in his lap after a long practice, but he decides that the only word that suits it perfectly is "love".
Kris never knows if he's been too hard or not hard enough, never knows if he's helped them to make a good impression, and never knows if he's living up to the twelve leaders that have come before him and Suho, but every time he finds a thank you note in sitting on his bed he smiles, giving in a little more to the thought that he's off to a better start that he gives himself credit for.
