I have to keep correcting myself because I'm so in the habit of saying "my boyfriend" rather than "my fiancé". It's so much easier for him, when talking to his friends. The Yorkshire expression "Our lass" covers girlfriend, fiancée or wife equally well.

I suspect that it takes some work to change a thought pattern. But it's a happy thought pattern.
