Tall ships in Bergen

The Tall Ships Race entrants should be arriving in Bergen today and tomorrow, where they will stay until Tuesday when Race 2 starts. (If you're interested, you can read more about it on the Sail Training International web site here.)

It looks beautiful!!! I'm not a huge fan of boat racing, or even boats (apart from sailing round the Med, with some champagne, perhaps! lol I wish!) but this looks quite interesting. The route looks pretty straightforward.

I wouldn't want to do the race (I'm too old anyway, the majority of the crew has to be under 25!) Instead we do the delivery leg, taking the boat out to where the race starts. Or at least that's been the case for the last couple of years; this year it was a pre-delivery-leg, i.e. the DSP opted out of the Liverpool to Maloy race and instead broke up the delivery to Maloy into several week-long legs and we did one of those weeks. So we had a set distance to cover during the week (Stavanger to Bergen) but that's only a short distance involving pleasant day sails and every night in harbour including plenty of time for sightseeing once there.
