Thank you! It was a lot of fun to do the pre-work for this one, because I just started scribbling different sensory information in a notebook and kept writing until I'd filled up four or five pages as practice. :)

I love how Bruce had to talk and talk and went so far beyond his habitual reticence that he just poured all his soul out for Clark. I'm imagining that he didn't really understand his own feelings until he heard them coming from his mouth. I'm imagining the words were speaking him, instead of he speaking the words, by that point - that he was as enthralled by the experience as Clark was.

The line that just made me want to cry was at the end, when Clark asked Bruce just to say his name. It gave me shivers, the final resolution and completion. Just marvelous.

I was recently talking with amatara about exactly that idea in fic, those times when reticent characters have to keep talking for some emergency reason and it ends up opening them a lot more than they ever expected. I agree, I don't think Bruce really knew how he felt until he heard himself saying it! I really enjoyed writing that sort of stream-of consciousness...Bruce is not usually a man who dwells on sensuous details, but of course with his perceptiveness he'd be very aware of all those things.

I'm so glad you liked it! I knew it had to end on one of the details Bruce had spilled out, and there's little more joyous than hearing someone speak your name with love, so it seemed the best welcome back. :)
