Well, what a lovely way of allowing Clark to play his part as a heel without going against who he is as a person. I really like the fact that you made it so that he isn't brainwashed or that bitterness isn't what's driving him. I like where this is going!

Yay, I'm so glad it worked for you! I'd known for ages that was the persona he was going to have, but I hadn't quite worked out how he was going to get through it without getting, as you say, bitter and cynical. Luckily my mental Bruce reminded me that Clark doesn't have to be bad to be a heel! In fact, a lot of the best heels in the real industry are particularly sweet people, because it takes some empathy to play the role well...

Thank you for the kind comment!

Yay! I actually came online the last two days looking for this story! I'm so excited you posted today. I knew if anyone could make Clark embrace the role of a heel it would be kind words from Bruce. I love that he picked the name krypton. If anyone can pull this off Clark can. I think Luthor will be miffed but turn it to his advantage in the long run. Great chapter I always look forward to this story.

I try to absolutely not go more than 20 days without an update--it's been a bit of a challenge over the holidays, but I just barely made it this time! :)

I knew if anyone could make Clark embrace the role of a heel it would be kind words from Bruce.

I've been kind of struggling with how to get Clark not to give up completely, but of course Bruce would be the key. :) And I do think Lex might end up pretty pleased with how popular the Kryptonian might become! *crosses fingers for them all*

Thanks for the awesome comment! *dances*

I really needed this today! Good chapter. Bruce understands his Clarkie very well. :)

Good psychology of a heel, too. I like it.

Omigod, the ruffles! :)

So, will Krypton be a paradise or sterile? :)

I love that Bruce wrote a real letter instead of just texting or e-mailing. The old-fashioned girl in me likes letters!

Lex will be miffed, all right, but as long as Clark's making money for him, he won't care all that much in the end.

*hugs* So glad I could give you a chapter that's not all grim! And the ruffles! I love them so much, poor Clark. :)

I bet it goes back and forth constantly depending on who's doing the writing! ;)

It's so Bruce, somehow! I can totally see him working very hard on it and getting it just right...

Bruce's letter is made of loveliness and oh, he nails the psychology of it perfectly. So many of the biggest, baddest heels have been the biggest sweetest teddy bears backstage. I'm happy that it motivated Clark to make the best of his situation and to take charge of his new gimmick.

I am SUCH A SUCKER for the teddy bear heel. :) I'm looking forward to Clark finding some level of his Inner Heel and being at least satisfied with his work at a craft level.

I'm so glad you liked Bruce's letter! I know he sounds unusually formal for him, but he's trying really hard to get this across to Clark...

I didn't find it unusually formal at all! In fact, it came across rather like Thorin to Bilbo, to use an example from my own characters like Patrick's letters to Roger, or in any myriad of instances where Bruce, as he so often does, "uses a mask to tell the truth". He's hiding behind formality to convey depth of feeling. It's almost more of a love letter with so much restraint coming from Bruce than it would have been had he been gushing.

"But...I don't want to be a heel," said Clark.

Oh, poor Clark! *hugs him*

He suspected that Luthor knew how he hated the idea, and this was the man's slow-simmering revenge against him for his involvement in the Grayson case. But he was clearly alone in his visceral revulsion at the idea of being a heel, of having audiences boo him instead of cheer him, children cringe from him rather than smile at him. He was just being silly. Probably even Bruce would tell him so.

*pets Clark* He seems so lonely and tired without Bruce there, bless him...

Head-to-toe black, with--were those white ruffles running down the sleeves? Another sketch had a pale blue surplice worn loosely over the tight black bodysuit.

I can not help but giggle at that, hee! :D

No one else GETS him and wrestling in the same way, it is really hard for him! I'm definitely going to have to montage up some of the future rather than make Clark (and us!) slog through it all...

I can not help but giggle at that, hee! :D

Oh man, sticking him in the Byrne bodysuits has made me so happy, poor Clark!

Nooo, Bruce, why did you stop there!

Poor Bruce! You must imagine him sitting there chewing on his pen and realizing that although he could wax eloquent about ring psychology, he had no idea what to say about his feelings toward Clark. *pets him*

It is good to know that Bruce is keeping an eye on Clark's life, isn't it? He seems so far away, but as always he's not letting Clark far out of his sight... *grin*

I confess I'm not sure exactly what to do with Clark as a heel! I know where the angle goes once Bruce gets back, but he needs to establish himself a bit first...

I enjoyed Dick interrupting Bruce and getting included in the letter. ;)

Maybe Clark should really dive into being a heel and fix Lex's wagon! ;)
