Oh Jim...of course, that anguish is because Batman could have been killed, poor dear.

I'm enjoying your speculation for the film so far :-D

I've been having fun with playing around with Blake while he's still a blank slate! :) And Jim's double-talk is always such a pleasure to write... Glad you enjoyed!

Awesome! Like queen0fcups, I'm really enjoying your speculation about John Blake as the newcomer to the Batman world. Well written and wonderfully speculated!

I'm kind of fascinated by Blake because he seems to be being depicted as such a good and decent guy--I want to know what he thinks of Batman and Gotham so much, both at the beginning and end of the film. I suspect he's something of a stand-in for the audience, in part because he does make SUCH a tempting outsider POV... :)

"You could have killed an innocent person," he said, his voice shaking very slightly.

YOUR JIM, KING OF DOUBLESPEAK. <333333

By now I suspect everything Jim says has an extra level of meaning, he can't even help it anymore.

"How would you like your coffee, sir?" asked Blake.

"Black," said Gordon, and for a moment Blake thought he could see a flash of bleakness on his features. But it was gone the next instant.

"And, um, what flavor of donut?"

Gordon looked down at his papers, away from Blake's gaze. After a long moment, he said softly, "Chocolate."

Discomfited, not knowing why, Blake backed toward the door, only to be interrupted by Gordon's piercing stare. "And...with sprinkles," Gordon said, and Blake looked away from the desolation in his eyes.

:DDD

The sprinkles...they remind him of debris falling, shattered fragments of a once-sweet life. :)

Oh, Jim! I can just imagine what your face looked like. :(

Yes, an innocent person WOULD have been killed.

God, can't you just see how Oldman would sell that? He's done such a great job with Jim that it makes it easy to empathize with him.

He was a great choice for Jim! He makes him a fantastic character in this 'verse, though Comics Jim is just as fabulous! :) But I think I'll be inspired to write a little more Bruce/Jim after seeing this film. Oh, the angst, the angst! :)
