*squeeflail* Yes. They are sooooo slashy it's even like, you know, in the context. And the sub-context.

That's how I feel.

I am soooooo hoping they'll have some meaningful interaction in the next issue or two! But even if they don't, this will make me happy. :)

Reading Geoff Jones' Green Lantern stuff, it's obvious that he's a huge Green Lantern fanboy; and during Rebirth, he badly upset some Batman fans when he essentially used Batman as a villain in that story. So I'm vaguely wondering if the Batman/Lantern aspect of this story isn't a bit of a peace offering on his part. It's certainly not how I expected him to portray the characters.

Isn't that interesting? I agree, I read "Rebirth" and based on that I was really uneasy about him writing Batman in the League. Though there was already some reconciliation between them at the end of "Infinite Crisis"--there was a good scene where Green Lantern comes to save Batman as Brother Eye disintegrates, and although Brother Eye reminds him that he can't trust metas, Bruce reaches out and grabs his hand. So...some of this seems a continuation of that storyline and a realization on Johns's part that there's no reason for the two characters to be enemies (I know the no fear/using fear thing makes sense, but so does the feeling that they're both normal--um, "normal"--men).

BRUCE TO THE RESCUE

This reboot stuff is completely confusing. Because, everyone's from scratch but Batman. Kind of. That psychoanalyzing speech, the unmasking, the trusting pep talk? Would never, ever be in character for the sort of Bruce who normally has just joined the justice league, the untrusting grumpy bat. It would, however, be perfectly in character for the Bruce who has been through all he has in Morrison's titles etc. just pre-reboot. So, him having his history and stuff, or some of it anyway, and the others not, lets me give his weirdness a pass here.

There's no particular reason beyond tradition to have Bruce be so untrusting at first, though! He's always had the most developed supporting cast of people he trusts with either his secret or his life--even assuming maybe he hasn't adopted Dick yet here, he still has Jim, Alfred, probably Lucius, maybe Leslie? It does seem to sort of...short-circuit one of his major narrative arcs to have him be the one who's willing to trust so fast, though, doesn't it? And I do think at a meta-level it works, although it's still so odd to have such a mature, level-headed Batman on this team of young hotheads (especially when the art indicates Bruce is about as young as they are!)

*grin*

On the other hand I have my heart, which goes "OMG SQUEE FLAIL FLAIL FLAIL" for entirely irrational shippy reasons.
Oh, I understand you SO MUCH on this! :D

”I’m going to get Superman”
Oh MY God! I was really squealing seeing that panel! I just have to say - what makes me worried a little bit - I don’t see any mention of Bruce/Clark cooperation in spoilers (it could be deliberate, though). So I’m curious how much of Bruce/Clark interaction on Apokolips we will see (*crosses fingers and hopes there IS a lot of it*).

Well, he gets his behind kicked once again. He throws everything he's got at Darkseid and Darkseid doesn't even blink, he just reaches out and snaps his arm:
Poor Hal! But like I already said - he was amazing in this issue and I loved him!

”Wearing a batsuit is normal?
No, it’s insane.This made me smile ( ... )

I explain it to myself as I'm a fanfic writer first, an S/B shipper second, a Superman or Batman fan third, and a comic book fan fourth. *grin* So as long as it leads to good S/B stories and isn't too bad on the characters, I'm pretty relaxed about the plot...

It is always possible that Bruce will get captured too and they'll have to both fight separately to get out. :P That wouldn't be as much fun, would it?

And seeing Hal’s reaction on Bruce’s revelation I was like - OMG! He can’t be serious!!! :D

I assume this proves that Hal doesn't keep up on Gotham news rather than that Bruce isn't very famous. :) Bruce does seem to think Hal will know him!

Perfect, that was just perfect! :D And they two were ( ... )

...that first panel in the second-to-last pic, with the parademon carrying Batman. D: Is it just me? Am I sick, or is that picture sick?

Been to long since I looked at comics, clearly.

*snork* Lee might have wanted to think the composition of that one through a little more carefully... ;)
