"To boys!" They clinked mugs. LOL, that's... promising!

And the end, with Bruce worrying about his father... that's so sad.

I like this story a lot, so far. :)

It is, isn't it! :D

Gahhh, I know, Bruce insisted on being pre-woobie, the poor thing. *snugs him*

I'm glad you're enjoying it so far!

It was so nice to come home from a trying time at work and be surprised by an undate. This chapter was so good, I love that young Bruce is such a worrier, and that he has opened up to Clark. Can't wait to see more of the developing relationship between Clark and Bruce. :D

Yay, I always like to know I made someone's day a smidge better. :) And yeah, I like writing Bruce even before the tragedy as a bit obsessive and fretty about things, the kind of kid that such a tragedy might hit harder than a more carefree one. His relationship with Clark in this arc was so much fun to write, because they're really different but they hit it off so well. :) Thanks for the feedback!

I love that last line - seems sort of like forshadowing to me. :P And I really like how well Clark's mom knows him. :3

And I am a little confused - are both mothers named Martha?

LOL, it's one of the cruel coincidences of the DC Universe that both Clark and Bruce's mothers are named Martha! Obviously no one ever imagined they'd interact...I definitely struggled over that in writing dialogue between the two of them!

This chapter was sweet magic! Martha Kent's anxiety, about facing a new job situation, and supporting her son alone, was right on. Martha Wayne was charming delight. The boys were- wonderful! You could almost hear their shoes scampering up the stairs! I was enchanted. Their conversation from the Gray Ghost, to the seriousness of real life, and their childish worries and concerns, which aren't really childish at all. Lastly, the glimpse of Bruce as the broody little boy, who feels things so deeply. I just Loved it. Perfect, wonderful, magic!

One of the things I loved most about this series was getting to focus on both of the mothers a lot--Thomas is a great dad but he's a workaholic and so we don't see a whole lot of him in this very domestic setting, so I could really have both mothers play a pretty major role. It was surprisingly hard to get a handle on Bruce's mother, but eventually I really came to love her (yeah, that made writing some parts really fun... *sniffle*)

Glad you're liking it so far!
