You also gave a good feel to the ‘ones left at home’ ness of Alfred and Steve when the others left to save the universe (what other threat would blacken both of Superman’s eyes and break his hand). You gave a brave and matter of fact aspect of being a warrior to the League members that was great. It showed the type of person it takes to be a superhero. The fight between Bruce and Clark at the table was a hoot and half especially with Diana making her sotto voce comment to Steve.
Thank you for sharing this slice of life. You are so talented.

I kind of meant to skim over that to the next morning, but Alfred and Steve insisted on dwelling on it a bit. :) And the banter was so much fun! The boys sat down at the table and just fooled around, it was a blast. :) Thanks so much for the sweet comment!

“Although some people might need to learn more about thinking first and not charging into things like an idiot,” Bruce said acidly, with a glare at Clark.
Clark just laughed and grabbed the maple syrup. “And some people need to stop being massive control freaks who can’t accept a minor change in plans,” he said, the smile taking some of the mocking edge off his words.
You had me falling out of my chair, quite literally, because I could so here them bickering off in the background!
“Oh,” said Bruce, “Clark lost control of his horse and it threw him. He’s not as good a rider as he thinks.”
Clark looked somewhat annoyed at this slander. “And you tripped while trying to help me up and fell on your face, right?”
“That sounds reasonable,” Bruce said placidly. “You’d better eat some of those pancakes before Clark steals them like he did mine,” he added, prompting outraged denial from Clark. How easily they make up excuses! I love how Bruce just seems so deadpan, almost to the point where I doubt he has emotions. But, I can sense the ( ... )

Hee, the boys and their banter all felt transcribed--you know, like I was just hearing it and writing it down. That's such a fun feeling...
Bruce made me laugh here, he was was so deadpan, like you say! I think when he relaxes he doesn't "push" his personality so hard and is more content to just sort of be there.
Glad you liked it! Steve unfortunately suffers by being a Silver Age character and often not having much personality beyond "heroic" and "adores Diana," lol, but he does make a good POV character for looking at others!

How perfectly perfect, Mithen! It's just what I craved! :)
The inclusion of Steve into the group, the trust they have in him not to reveal secrets, the observations made by him as to the Trinity's true personalities is all golden!
That kiss of Diana's as a possible goodbye was quite startling! It gave me a little shiver down my back when I read it.
Mmm, I loved the keeping the homefires burning aspect of this tale, too, with Steve and Alfred waiting for their loved ones.
And you managed to include mention of Dick! *squees again*
Diana coming back, her pain, the telltale blood, the World's Finest injuries (Dear heaven, what could have given Superman two black eyes and a badly damaged right hand?) was all so wonderfully done.
THANK YOU for this! It's wonderfully wonderful! :)
*hugs*
P.S. Golden beauties, indeed! *snickers*

I was surprised when she did that! I'm not sure exactly what they were fighting, but it must have been quite serious. I'm sure later Steve will find out more about what happened, but I can imagine right now they might just want to enjoy their pancakes and friendship. :)
Hee, I was kind of wondering myself where Dick was! Bruce insisted on mentioning him...probably because he's so proud of him under all the bluster, the old softie. :)
Thank you for the fun prompt, it was a joy to write the Trinity hanging out and bantering together. :)
