I agree, Loeb's plotting sometimes doesn't hold a lot of water, but damn, he loves the characters. I'll take that over a tightly-plotted, joyless exercise anyday.
Although there's quite a bit of self-loathing (there's probably other better description of it but this is the only one that came to mind right now) here from Bruce: "Clark is a good person, and deep down I know I'm not."
I think "Hush" was the first modern-continuity TPB I read (I read DKR and Kingdom Come before it!) and although I think he writes Bruce over the top at time, I rather like his broody doubtfulness. That line, though, I think was pushing it too hard. I redeem it by deciding that Bruce is defining "good person" in some personal sort of way that doesn't mean exactly what I expect, lol...
