Changing direction

Ok so went to MK conference this weekend. Got a lot of inspiration and motivation, but I have a lot of work and changes in front of me. I have goals that I want, but I wonder if they are a little too big for my britches. I am motivated, but scared also. I want things that I am worried are too far out of my league. I know this is fear talking. But ( Read more... )

Sunshine has the right message. There's an awesome counselor out there, Dr. David Burns, who wrote an excellent book called "Feeling Good: Mood Therapy." One of his points that has helped me over time is that "you are not your work," much as Sunshine said when she wrote, "You are NOT your goals or your accomplishments." I used to measure myself exactly in these terms: by the salary on my contract, by the accomplishments I had, and by the things I got done. What ended up happening, every time, was that I was just measuring the money I wasn't making, the things I had never accomplished, and by all the work that I still needed to do.

Random scene: Dana and I turning the corner in the hallway at Val Day, you coming out of the bathrooms--with the advertisements and business cards you were systematically leaving behind. I thought to myself, "She's serious."

You're committed, you are putting in the time--it will pay off. It's simply just a bunch of doing stuff until you get there.
