Well, I am The World, which does seem rather amusing, yeah?
Kudos on Indi 1, Cane Toad 0. Better him/her than dog or others. But yuck and ewww all the same.

Yeah, really. This neighborhood is full of dogs and cats and kids. I'd rather not take chances with those toads.

It seems the suggested response to cane toad sightings is to catch it and/or report it to the proper authorities because "two-thirds of suspects turn out to be harmless native frogs (such as the Banjo Frog) that need our protection."

I don't know, man. That's just....wow.

When the bufotoxin is ingested: cyanosis, hyperthermia, seizures, arrythmia, hallucination, and more often than not, death anywhere from 10 minutes to 3 hours after contact. Depending on the victim's weight and the amount of toxin the toad puts out -- it varies. Animals can die after drinking standing water that the toads soak themselves in.

These things can kill people. There's no antidote, either. I'm not taking chances.

You gotta put that shit behind a cut, man. Poisonous is bad, but I don't want to read about toad bludgeoning.

I can't kill slugs. Granted, they're not poisonous, but I hate them and don't want them around. This is one of the many reasons why having ducks is a good thing. You don't ever want to actually see a duck consume a slug, though. EVER.

I don't feel good about it, but given the choice between toads and dogs, hand me the shovel. There's no antidote for bufotoxin. I'd prefer rattlesnakes, honestly.

I didn't tell you this last night, but damn, your cane toad story reminded me of that SKing story where it rains toads in this one town and the two new people don't believe it when they're told, and so they get eaten by the toads.

Eaten by toads.

EATEN BY TOADS.

If you need me at any point between now and THE REST OF MY LIFE I will be hiding in my bed, under the blankets, with my dog and a flashlight and comic books.

It's rather a terrifying story, actually.

LOL forever at your icon (still) ;)
