Same Pics... Again.

Oct 31, 2007 11:03

Well, hello everyone.

This is going to be another one of those posts in which I apologise for my long absence from LJ. As always, I didn't mean to stay away this long, but between an exhausting job, monitor trouble, a 26-day visit from my very special Australian friend conan76 and a two-week tour of Paris, Barcelona and Rome, I haven't had much ( Read more... )

look at how your photos are always excellent. Bah. i love the second one and don't understand the third one. (this monitor is for some reason set to 640x480 ish and i can only see a bit of the picture at a time. it looks crazy!)

Heh. Thanks. The third one is supposed to be a bus on a beach with a wash-out (creek) in the foreground. It's not the most spectacular shot, but somehow I like it. Can't imagine what it must look like on your monitor...

What did you end up doing on your birthday? Whatever it was, I hope you had a great day!

Heh. Make up your mind, woman. :-)

No. 4 is a picture of one of the many creeks of Fraser Island, a massive freshwater creek crossing the beach on its way to the sea. I loved the geometry of the shot (the lines created by the sand and the water) and the shimmering lights in the water. Other than that, there's little to understand. Unless, of course, you desire a comparative analysis of the symbolism inherent in light and water in Buddhism and Taoism, in which case I'll be hard pressed to make something up. Starting... now.

these look really good now, that "pinkish" tone seems to have vanished. i'm glad to see you posting again. i was feeling sorry for you, your having taken a new job and all, and no more nine week vacations. i'm sure it's a blow to have to limit yourself to only two weeks in paris and rome, but you seem to be holding up well in spite of the hardship :)

and i'm up for some of your architecture and history shots, the genre i first knew you by.

Thank you! Yes, I do think they look much better now, what with more colour, brighter highlights, greater contrast and everything. I'm glad I re-edited them.

As for your sympathy, much obliged. I definitely deserve it, after the kind of holiday I just had. I particularly hated Italy, where I was forced to stay at five-star hotels and had to have freshly cooked Italian food all the time. It was horrible. Horrible, I tell you. :-)

Your command of focusing on the Holga, particularly on this, drives me crazy -- WITH ENVY. ;)

Welcome back!

Thanks! Actually, I think focusing with the Holga is quite easy; you just have to remember to do it. It's tempting to think, Oh, it's just a toy camera, it won't make any difference whether I focus or not, but it does make a difference. I can tell on the rare occasions when I forget to focus. :-)
