One would think that when visiting one of the best zoos in the world, one would look at the animals rather than the trees, but no, not me; I emerged from my visit to Singapore Zoo with more pictures of plants and trees than of animals. and possibly something interesting here too...perhaps the first misstep in language i have seen you make in, like, forever. did you mean "veins" where you said "nerves"? or perhaps you meant exactly what you said. in any case, they're nice photos and it was clever of you to have appreciated the possibilities in shooting from below. not everyone thinks of the more difficult angle.

I was under the impression that nerves and veins were the same thing in botany, but a quick Google search indicates that this is not in fact the case and that "veins" is a more common term for what the pictures depict. I've changed the subject line accordingly. Thanks for the correction! :-)

the distinction between nerves and veins is a little iffy nowadays. veins are vascular structures for movement of fluids carrying nutrients; nerves transmit electro-chemical impulses. since there are a growing numbers of people who believe plants have "feelings" it's easy to become embroiled in an argument you didn't want.
it occurred to me that you might be of the "feeling" persuasion and said exactly what you intended. your english is so much better than mine, i would hesitate to ever correct you. obviously i do have too much time on my hands.

Of course my English isn't better than yours. Don't be silly. I may speak the language well, but I'm not a native speaker, nor will I ever be. You have no idea how that frustrates me sometimes. :-)
