One would think that when visiting one of the best zoos in the world, one would look at the animals rather than the trees, but no, not me; I emerged from my visit to Singapore Zoo with more pictures of plants and trees than of animals. One of my lucky finds was this pretty decomposing leaf lying on top of a much bigger leaf. The bright afternoon light was too bad to photograph it from above, so I kneeled and checked if I could get the shot from below. And lo and behold, the back-lit veins of the decomposing leaf shone through the bigger leaf...
I tried moving the little leaf into a slightly more photogenic position, but since it was stuck to the big leaf and I didn't want to risk damaging it, I ended up leaving it where it was.
The pictures are a tad out of focus, but hey, you try shooting gossamer-thin veins through a big leaf with a lens that isn't suited to close-ups...
