The second image is a (very basic) photo of cladding: protective metallic tiles fixed to the outside of a building here in The Hague. I held the camera diagonally and made sure I captured the reflection of the sun in one of the tiles.
What luck to get the sun's reflection in such a great position. I like this one better than the previous, perhaps because the two elements are more easily recoginizable.
Yes, it wouldn't have been nearly so impressive without the sun's reflection. That said, it wasn't really luck. I very deliberately took a photo of the reflection, made careful note of where it was in the picture, and then deliberately arranged the composition in such a way that the ship would move towards the light.
I like this one better than the other one, as well, because it's less "crowded" and has this lovely geometry thing going on. As you know, I'm a sucker for geometry in photos. :-)
