ooh i like that one! I like how the sun is trapped. Shame you can't do double exposures on digital...

But you can get the same type of effect by working with layers in Photoshop.

but that's cheating! (i know, im sulky !!)
It would be so cool if digital cameras had a cross-exposure or lomo setting. really. I'll make one and make my fortune.

and please, keep all the posts up from your trip. I am rather swamped right now and want to be able to go back and read thoroughly later :-)

No worries, the travelogues will still be up by the time you get around to reading them. I hope you enjoy them. Good luck with all the work!

Oh wow, this looks awesome!!!

What is the second image (not the ship one)? Tiles?

Thanks! I was rather pleased with the way it came out myself. :-)

The second image is a (very basic) photo of cladding: protective metallic tiles fixed to the outside of a building here in The Hague. I held the camera diagonally and made sure I captured the reflection of the sun in one of the tiles.

What luck to get the sun's reflection in such a great position. I like this one better than the previous, perhaps because the two elements are more easily recoginizable.

Yes, it wouldn't have been nearly so impressive without the sun's reflection. That said, it wasn't really luck. I very deliberately took a photo of the reflection, made careful note of where it was in the picture, and then deliberately arranged the composition in such a way that the ship would move towards the light.

I like this one better than the other one, as well, because it's less "crowded" and has this lovely geometry thing going on. As you know, I'm a sucker for geometry in photos. :-)
