On the beach (part 1)

This is what happens when you put a roll of expired Fuji Astia (sell-by date 1998) in a Holga, go to the beach and have the film cross-processed.

I absolutely adore these, odd colours, blown-out highlights, sagging horizons, slightly off compositions and all.

Thank you! Yeah, the second one is eerie, isn't it? Rather like something out of a dream...

How fun! I never really knew about cross-processing, so I'm now a little more enlightened. I like the quirky results that come out!

Thanks! There's a whole community dedicated to this kind of thing if you're interested: cross_process.

I have some more cross-processed shots coming up, but I think these are better than the ones still to come.

You have a Holga and you haven't used it? Shame on you. It's a great toy. Go on, get some 120 film and start experimenting!

Curse you, Corey, curse you. I'm so envious now that I can't even properly describe the feelings of jealousy I'm experiencing. And here I was feeling smug.

Oh, well. I may soon be the owner of a brand new 30D with a 17-40mm lens, and I beat you to posting cross-processed Holga pics. Take that!

Thank you! I'm glad these seem to be so popular. I'll certainly give the Holga/cross-processing combination another go.

I've also really enjoyed your recent work. Great stuff!

You're alive! what_name and I were wondering what had become of you...

Anyhow, thank you very much for the kind words, as always. I'm glad you like these, and I look forward to seeing your own Holga shots. I hope your absence from LJ-land wasn't/isn't caused by unpleasant business...

*hugs you two*

i was feeling bad for not being able to comment these days. it wasn't very unpleasant (? maybe). i've simply had a bad combination of being very busy & somewhat sick. i've been following you... OF COURSE.

like them? WOW! they are gorgeous, these ones & the other posts too. the colours, the subjects, the compositions... they are so beautiful.
they made me very happy when i saw them this morning.

Of course I rule the Holga-and-x-pro universe! I'm the boss-sensei and everything! :-) Well, sort of, anyway. And perhaps not at all. Only time will tell whether my cross-processed photos will be as consistently good as yours have been. I'm very content with these, but the others I took on the same film are less spectacular. They're not bad or anything; they're just a bit bland, I think. But you'll see that for yourself some time next week.

I'm sorry to hear the last few days haven't been good for you. Here's to a speedy recovery, more leisure time and a general sense of well-being! And to ice cream and freshly-baked croissants, obviously.

On which note I'm off to bed, because I, too, am hideously busy and bracing myself for a hard day's work tomorrow...
