Andy Williams & the NBC Kids Search For Santa

Bad music is one thing, but bad Christmas music truly is piped 24-7 into hell. The Cartoonist challenged me to make the world's most annoying Christmas mix, and in return, she would draw the cover for it. Here's the grating final result, available for download and sheer office-party torture!

I can't stop laughing at a) Bob Dylan's version of "Hark the Herald" and b) the fact that Twisted Sister's "O Come All Ye Faithful" sounds exactly like "We're Not Gonna Take It", somehow.

I'd never considered how much "We're Not Gonna Take It" ripped off "O Come All Ye Faithful" until I heard that. But this one has an electric-guitarry "Hava Nagila" interlude, setting it apart.

I have played Bobby Z's "Hark! The Herald" every goddamn night at the bar. That juke gets plugged at least twice a night for this little gem, by me.

People really hate it.

a. The album image cover is how I am feeling about Christmas this year. Do you have anything a little more... "Merry" to wash it down with?

2. I will have you know that "Funky Funky Christmas" is one of NKOTB's greatest hits. From 1989 on, I definitely rock around the Christmas tree at least once to this, and the rest of the album. Yes, it's true.

It's hard not to dance to the New Kids shouting out bizarre, boastful holiday sentiments in unplaceable accents. But try the Miley Cyrus version of "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree"... it's fucking AWFUL.

If you want merry, go to betamaxmas.com. You will not regret it.

I have a cd of cats meowing carols. I should burn you a copy. It's funny for about 5 seconds.

JINGLE CATS? Please tell me it is Jingle Cats, otherwise that means someone made more than one album of cats meowing carols.

Oh well, soon enough somebody will make a cover album of cats meowing Bob Dylan christmas carols and we can all die happy, possibly bleeding from the ears.

it is jingle cats. good call. I put it on every year. I hear that there is a sequel.

dylan cats would be rad. I want meowing Subterranean Homesick Blues. Came close when the Chili Peppers covered it but not close enough.

Ha, you're the second person so far to question the absence of Jingle Cats.

A couple hours ago it was noted that Bob Dylan's Christmas album vocals sound a lot like CasioTard. Which is a very depressing thought, especially because it's kinda true.

Where's Tiny Tim's "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer"?!

God, that sounds painful. To make room for the rest, I also had to leave off Smashing Pumpkins' "Christmastime" and "I'm Getting Nuttin' Fer Christmas" as performed by Smash Mouth and Rosie O'Donnell. I stand by my decisions.

Aww... that's too bad. I'm assuming it was a heartwrenching decision to have to omit "Back Door Santa" by Clarence Carter as well.

Ha, I've seen that on a few Worst Christmas Song lists too.

Goddamn Wham! takes up nearly seven minutes of space, but I really couldn't leave that song off the mix.

"Reindeer" was on there for a while, but I switched it for something else. Something about it being both overplayed and "funny." This could so easily have been a double album though.
