Last night, the younger Otter offspring sang with his college choir in a presentation of 'Carmina Burana'. The opening/closing song, O Fortuna, is familiar to most of us from movies and commercials. It's a huge, dramatic choir piece, was used in 'The Gladiator',  for one.  I think it's the best thing I've heard the choir do in the years we've been  ( Read more... )

It sounds like a beautiful performance! I love the oboe, personally!

It IS difficult to force ourselves to work on our O-fic instead of fan fic. Sometimes when the plot bunnies won't leave us alone, it's almost like we HAVE to write them to get back to what we were doing!

Oh, yes, the oboe--lovely, haunting instrument! There were three last night and one of the songs featured them particularly.
And-- are you working on an o-fic, too? If so, that's exciting--I'd love to hear about it. But if not, no worries, your fanfic is wonderful stuff!!
Congrats on your recent win!!!

It's about my sister's life. She's been through more than anyone I know, and still she's just amazing.

What about yours?

I'm very sorry your sister has had a hard life! I love that you are celebrating her strength in your own original work--that's so lovely!!
My o-fic is going to be for middle school readers--I have taken my original child character from 'Class Reunion' and put her into her 'real' family
(in fanfic she was a Malfoy, natch :) It's a ghost story. Five chapters
done so far and MUST get back on it.

I love O Fortuna. I've always thought it sounded evil. Probably because I started watching horror flicks at a young age and they always seem to use that when the DEVIL approaches. :) Were you able to record it? I would like to hear the young otter...

Now...*crack the whip* I am dying for some more o-fic. DYYIiNnnng....(fades away) So, unless you're going to make a bunny stew- that was really great imagery by the way, of the little white tale disappearing into the woods.

The bunny is NOT gonna get me after all (unless he's chocolate, and he's not) I can't wait to get back to Sharlotte. It is now Spring break and I hope to spend a good bit of time writing. Hopefully, there will be a new chapter by the end of this week. That is the goal and I do feel fired up about it. LOL
That is funny about O Fortuna and the horror movies--I never knew. I have the exact opposite view--it sounds like the triumph of good over evil to me. *grins* The concert last night was recorded so hopefully we can get a copy of it. Jonathan didn't have a solo but he had major work behind the scenes as assistant director. His girlfriend had two solos, both gorgeous.
